Hi and welcome to my video tutorial. My name is Sergey Gusev, I am a professional full time artist graduaded from the Academy of Fine Arts, Russia, St. Petersburg with a masters degree. In this instructional video I explain how to paint a portrait in oils on canvas. I want to share my experience with you and help you to achieve great results even if you have never been to any art schools or institutes. This tutorial consists of 3 parts, each part represents a new step of the work on the portrait. In every episode I explain what I do, which paints I mix, what medium I use, I show my palette and explain the basic rules of drawing and painting.
